Fall a sick on christmas eve

Christmas this year was very meaningful but not in good way.
Richie was sick on christmas eve, he had fever about 37.8 deg C then mommy brought him to see the GP.
First, the GP suspected that he's teething. 'Cos his gum had white thingy and the stool was loose and mild coughing.
He just gave leftose and brufen to reduce the gum swelling and told mommy that the fever will go away tomorrow.

But, it didn't seem to be the way we expected.
His fever was up and down, ranging from 38.1 to 37.6 and it happened almost every 3 hour.
Mommy suspected it couldn't be teething alone, cos mommy browsed some info in the internet.
Teething fever was last for 1 night only and it's mild fever.

Since, Christmas day was fall on Saturday, and the GP 's closed on Public Holiday and Sunday, mommy had no choice except monitored the fever.
Fortunately, the fever was gone on 26th December which is on Sunday.
But still, he didn't have much appetite either meals or milk and he's so cranky on the day and night.

Today, mommy brought him again to GP, and the GP said, it could be viral infection not only teething.
And he gave antihistamine medicine to reduce the cough and clear the airway in the nose.
The medicine has slight codein which made him sleepy. But it's good, at least he could sleep well undisturbed by his coughing.

Get well soon boy ! so mommy can look forward for New Year with joy and peace of mind

Meesua and milk pudding (15 months)

After a week eating heinz ready made food, he's getting sick of it.
So this week, mommy makes meesua and mashed potato for him.
So far he likes it,'cos it's something new for him and it's easy for him to eat without so much chewing.

Next week, mommy will try to give him rice again, hopefully he will eat it.
As for milk, after a week having milk pudding, mommy gives him milk again.
His appetite is back again

Learning mathematic in progress

Mommy stops the dot method for awhile. 'Cos he's bored.
It's all contain of red dots and no picture or whatsoever, that's why he's not so much interested in.
Mommy stops at dots 25th.
Perhaps after some reading lesson, he will like mathematic again

Learning reading in progress

Richie has been intensively learning reading everyday.
So far he has learnt fruits, vegetables, body parts and close to him.
He's very interested in body parts though. 'Cos he's familiar with most of it like head, hair, fingers, ears, nose, eyes, mouth, teeth. Even though when mommy asks him to point, he seems don't bother, but mommy knows that he understands what it means.
When mommy using flashcards to ask him to point, he could point the right one.

The next subject that he is going to learn is animals.
Hopefully, he's also like it, 'cos he likes to watch and observe pets surrounding our blocks

Sign Language

Mommy is interested in learning sign language for teaching Richie.
He hasn't spoken yet, mommy's just thinking that sign language will be another fun activity for him.
So far, he is able to do sign language for eat, telephone, popcorn and star

Some simple ones like drink, milk, bath, sleep, apple, ball, plane, car haven't been mastered by him yet
This is some websites as reference

Richie's characters

After observing him for quite sometimes, mommy knew some of his characters.

- little public relation
Sometimes he's too friendly I would say. Anytime anywhere, he likes to greet and smile to strangers.
There's an experience, when mommy and daddy had visitors and we had dinner at cheese prata.
As usual, he wanted to move around and greeted almost every guest there with his sweet smile.

- little marketer
Mommy's not sure whether his strangers anxiety hasn't built yet or it's simply his character.
He's not afraid or shy with new people or kids.
When he's in the playground and wanted to play something which other kids or even older kids were playing with it. He's not shy ask them. Of course without words yet but with action haha....
And when we went to botanical garden, there's a french kid (around 3 or 4 years old) riding the toy walker like what he had and suddenly richie was walking toward him and play with the steer wheel haha...

- little engineer
One of his favorite activities is turning his toys upside down. His push walker, girrafe ball coaster, truck, train , stroller are all upside down. He wants to know how they move, how the wheels work.
And he likes to play with his mega blocks, it's kinda of lego for 1+ year old. He could play with them at least for 15mins, while mommy's doing something else

- little adventurer
He likes to try and challenge himself. He could climb his baby chair by himself, and sometimes reach the dining table by climbing his baby chair to find food or TV remote
He likes to walk in escalator while we are at mall and the most favorite activity is hiding the things
and mommy's busy looking for it.

- little scientist / observer
He likes to observe something interesting, like shadow, birds, cat, dog, trees, leaves, wind, water
And with his capacity, he likes to explore it.
For eg when there's shadows, he will move his fingers and see the shadow. And he wants to touch wind and water eventhough it's impossible.

Mommy also thinks that he's more passive receiver, when mommy taught him words, sign language. He doesn't really bother about it, but mommy knows for sure that he understands it by listening and memorize it in his brain.
Hopefully, when the time comes, he's able to show his abilities

Sortie en famille au jardin botanique (19-12-10)

Love, joy and hope

we are happy family

shop - play - work

love is in the air

father and son

lick it - smell it - drink it

Perhaps this is the last our family outing for this year.
On Sunday morning, we went to Botanical Garden. At first, daddy was a bit reluctant, 'cos it's still a little bit drizzling. But mommy saw the sun has come out and thought that the rain will stop soon, so we decided to go to botanical garden.

When we arrived, the weather was just perfect. It's cooling and not so hot, even though we arrived around 10am.
At visitor center, we were welcomed by pink xmas tree and decorations. Even though it's a bit out of the location, but it's nice. Well mommy expected the xmas tree and decorations would be something more natural hehe...

Richie was so excited as well, he walked and run in the grass. They were many cute dogs as well and Richie was happy to see them. After almost 1 hour, he's running around catching bubbles, balls, he's tired and sleepy.
So he slept around half an hour while mommy and daddy just strolled into the garden. It was cooling and breezing.

After he woke up, we went to Swensens for lunch. Mommy wanted ice cream and western food.
Well, I would say it's a perfect family outing to close this year. Hopefully, we will go more often to the parks as our favorite family outing location.

Au revoir

Snapshots during Xmas time

4 teeth so far

Sometimes mommy just wondering Richie is already 14 months old but he's still having 4 teeth.
True, that he's drooling a lot nowadays but when mommy checks his gum. It doesn't show the sign that the teeth will come out.
I'm not sure whether it's normal for 14 months old baby having only 4 teeth so far

Slow in speech

Mommy would say Richie is a little bit slow in speech skills.
He prefers using baby language to proper language. Even though we have trained him by speaking loud and clearly. He just doesn't bother to do it.
When he's upset or angry, he likes mumbling with his own language which mommy and daddy don't understand.
Some said that boy is slower than the girl. I am not sure whether it's true.

Well, mommy just needs to be patience and persistent then...
Hopefully you can speak proper words son !

DIY Flashcard

Since now, mommy has a little bit free time, mommy wants to start small business through online shop @ facebook.
After scratching head and searching for ideas, mommy came out with DIY flashcard.
Why DIY Flashcard? because mommy also can use it to Richie and also mommy wants to inspire other parents how important it is to stimulate the brain earlier by teaching their kids to read and do mathematic.

Some parents don't have this information and they teach the kids in traditional way for eg teaching the kids phonics first, number as symbol etc
New way to teach is by showing the kids words, quantities. 'Cos kids like to learn fact not abstract.
Therefore mommy has desire to share this good news.

It's hard in the first place, 'cos not so many parents know and care about this. Mommy needs to educate them with information.
But mommy will not give up, 'cos I believe it will add value directly or indirectly to other parents and time will prove that.

PS : the online shop is on facebook

Teething affect his appetite?? (14 months old)

Since last week, his appetite has changed again.
He didn't want to eat rice, after 4 or 5 spoons he would spit it out. And he drank less milk also.
Mommy guessed it could be his teething. 'Cos he's drooling a lot and more than the first teething.
So this week, mommy gave him bottled food from Heinz and he liked it.
Perhaps beside teething, he's sick of home cooked which is 90% soup base. Anyway, mommy let him eat bottled food for a week and after that see if his appetite is okay and he wants the home cooked again.

For the milk, mommy made milk pudding from his milk. So in the morning Richie will drink 180cc milk for breakfast and the rest of the day, he will eat milk pudding, yakult and yoghurt for calcium supply.

Mommy hasn't met him for about 10 years and now we met again with our spouse and kid....
His daughter named was Gabriella, she's cute and pretty. And as usual, Richie was so excited when he first met her.
He simply gets along very well with her and so does she.
We had great time together and hopefully we will meet soon.

Two Weddings in a day

Eric and helen wedding

alger and tabitha wedding

@swissotel stamford

December is my favorite month. Not only it's xmas time but also year end holiday....
And it's also popular month for wedding celebration.
We had two weddings in a day. One in the morning and another one at night.
When I saw the couples, we felt that our wedding was only yesterday haha....
But time flies very fast, now we have Richie in our little family.

Anyway, back to wedding....
The morning one was our friend from Efata, the wedding pretty simple and not so many people, I guess because of heavy rain in the morning.
The evening one was our friend's son from KKIS. It was a grand one like in Indonesia. The programme flow and the entertainment were really good.
Too bad, we need to leave early, 'cos Richie was sleeping

Walk walk walk

Richie is now able to walk more steps and able to cross the room.
Even though he still prefers crawling if rushing but he spends more times practice walking also
Here some videos of his progress of walking

Walking in Progress

Richie is now able to walk 5 steps and he's still trying to walk more and more steps.
Mommy is really amazed his effort, with or without mommy's praise, he always tries to get up and walk.
When he's able to walk for few steps, he will turn his face to mommy with big smile...as if he wants to say...
MOMMY, I MAKE IT hehe....

And when he falls down after that, he seldom cries, he will get up and try over and over again.
Mommy never imagine that learn to walk is very difficult for baby. They need to have full balance on his feet to support his body...and the amazing part is they never give up, it's their instinct to try over and over again until they can walk properly and steadily.

Whenever we go out to mall or just playground, he likes to walk with one hand holding to mommy and wandering around...
He likes to explore something new and mommy and daddy are also getting tired chasing him especially when he wants to explore the escalator, glass door....

Mommy guesses, Richie would be able to walk before his 15th month b'day...
Great Job Boy ! Go Go...You can make it happen !

Hi-5 Live Show

Yesterday, mommy and daddy brought him to Marina Square to watch Hi-5 Live Show. Christmas Session.
Since, he liked to watch it in DVD, it would be a good experience for him to watch live with many kids around.
Unfortunately, Richie was still half awake after sleeping for half an hour only therefore he was a bit scared when the MC gave some opening speech.

But when the Hi-5 guys started singing and dancing, he watched them with serious mode haha...I guess he's wondering who were they?
We came around 1pm and so many kids and parents have arrived there already and we couldn't get the first floor, so we went up to second floor therefore it was not so clear for Richie to watch.

Anyway, we had some pictures of them though haha...hopefully they come again next year when Richie is big enough to watch and follow them singing and dancing.
Next week, we will hunt to United Square to watch Barney live show ...hopefully we are early to get the front sit and Richie's not sleepy

One Two Three..Down (13mos 26days)

Richie was trying to take the first steps and he could do it in three steps before fell down.
First, he's trying to stand from sitting down position unsupported then he slowly took the first step, second step, another step and lost balance hehe...
Anyway, well done boy!

Now, he likes to cruise a lot and sometimes he could cross from one furniture to another furniture by taking one or two steps before holding something....
Hopefully, he will be able to walk soon then....

Keep it up boy! way to go!

Weaning off totally

Since he turned down the breast milk, Mommy called it weaning off has already been accomplished.
Richie is now in total cow's milk. And so far so good even though he drinks half a little every day.
He's not kinda of a milk person, he prefers to eat than drink milk which is a good sign.

In the morning, he drinks 150ml milk, afternoon he drinks 120ml and before sleeping at night he drinks 150ml
and mommy gave him yoghurt 60ml in the morning after strolling to the park.

He also sleeps through the night now, from 930pm to 7am which makes mommy sleeps well too.
Finally, mommy can sleep through the night again yeay....

The next training will be sleeping alone at his bedroom...

Family Visit (17 - 22 November 2010)

Opa Jerry, Oma Liani, Opa Bambang and Oma Tine visited Singapore from Hari Raya Haji till Monday.
We were delightful of their coming especially Richie, 'cos there will be many people at home.

When they arrived on Wednesday, we went dinner together @Shokudo Restaurant to celebrate oma Tine's B'day. And on weekend, we went to Marina Bay Sands Skypark infinity pool to have a look since oma tine's friend were staying there over weekend.
It was awesome and Richie liked it so much.

Next time we will spend 1 night and swim there with Richie hehe....

walking training

Mommy noticed that Richie actually can walk unsupported but he seems doesn't have enough confidence.
I guess it's his character, when he fells, he will be very cautious and doesn't want to try after some times.
That's why, every day mommy trains him using baby walker push from fisher price.
He will push the walker and mommy just hold him if he runs fast.
So far he managed to go from his room to living room with the walker.

But when mommy takes the walker back and asks him to walk within arm reach, he's not confident enough to take the steps and prefer crawling since it's safe and much easier from him hehe...

oh boy...hopefully you can walk by yourself soon...

Start learning mathematic in Dot methods

After going to enrichment class, mommy knew how glenn doman method works.
So mommy decided to DIY the flash card for mathematic and words. Buying the ready made is expensive.
One set of Mathematic kit is S$380 and one set of reading kit is S$650.

Mommy did some researches in the internet and finally mommy could make own mathematic and reading kit.
Mommy spent S$30 for 50 blank cards (11'' x 11'' )

And starting from today, mommy taught him 5 cards ( dot 1 - 5 ). He seems pretty interested when mommy start to hold the cards. Since mommy only flashes them twice which is almost less than 15 seconds.
He gets very curious and wants more. But according to the rule of thumb, the lesson must be stopped before it gets boring so mommy decides to stop it.

After 15 - 30 minutes, mommy repeats again and he's very interested and seem that he wants it more and more.....
Hopefully, it works to him. At least to simulate his right brain.

Enrichment Class - trial

Last Saturday, mommy brought Richie to Baby Jumper Gym for trial class.
Mommy paid S$32 after discount for the trial. It's 1 hour class.
Since Richie's age was 13++ month, he went to Little Crawler 2 which is from 9 - 14 months old.

They taught mostly flash card and gym but of course there were many subjects
- Vocabulary in Chinese and English (using flash card words and picture and huayi pinyin, the topic was about fruits)
- Music (listening to classic songs, flash card taoge A and G, playing xylophone and 3 glassed filled with water in different level, sing green apple and goodbye song)
- Encyclopedia (the topic was about the star, by using flash card also)
- Gym (crawling, pull up, monkey bars)

The teacher was not so bad, cheerful and quite patient but mommy felt that the timing was too long for kids below 18 months old.
There were 3 kids, after 15 minutes, they lost the focus and preferred to crawl and explore the room instead of sit down and listening to what teacher said.
And when the parents tried to sit them down, they started cranky one by one .....

I guess, 30 minutes would be enough for kids below 18 months old.
15 mins for flash cards or music and 15 minutes for gym and playing.
But well, those kiasu parents wanted all subjects to be covered since they paid quite sum of money. Therefore as a teacher, she needed to force the kids a little bit to cover all the subjects even though the kids already lost focus.

Mommy decided to postpone the enrichment class and perhaps just send Richie to nursery when he's 3 years old. In the meantime, let mommy become his teacher at home when mommy knows his mood and when he can concentrate.
