Debater Session - Speech Academy

On August, he learnt how to do debate speech and he was chosen to be an emcee for the day of showcasing.
Papa was there to watch Richie's end of the month speech while mama accompanied Tromson swimming.

Speech Academy

As Richie's talent is public speaking, mama and papa thought that it may be a good idea to refine his public speaking skills so that it could be one of his talents that can be useful in near future therefore mama and papa enrol him to Speech Academy Asia.

We enrolled him both English and Chinese. For english, he will learn about different method and skills of public speaking and every end of the month, the parents will be invited to see how the kids will speak in front of the audiences.

As for chinese, he will learn more in oral and some reading and writing in fun way. There's a group of 3 boys including him, hopefully this will motivate him to learn and speak chinese more.

Swimming Frog style in progress (18 March 2015)

After a year, finally he got confident in the water to swim independently.
Eventhough the frog style is still imperfect but he managed to swim by himself 12 laps.
Well done Richie ! Keep it up !

Soccer trial lesson

Last Sunday, Richie had soccer trial lesson. He's very excited and looking forward to this soccer a week before.
And he's able to do coach leo's instructions.
Sideways, dribbling ball forward and backward, kicking the ball and aiming the cones

A breakthrough in swimming (7 june 2014)

This is a breakthrough for richie who's having phobia in water
He finally gained confidence in the pool
He could gliding and submerging happily

Swimming lesson 1 (15 Feb 2014)

Richie learns swimming again after 9 months break.
This time, he learns at Opa's condo @Regent Grove, Yew Tee
At first, he was reluctant to go into water, but after persuaded and encouraged by Coach Anisha, he finally has courage to go into water

Last Swimming lesson (31-3-13)

Last Sunday was last swimming lesson for Richie, eventhough he's very keen to swim but he didn't have much improvement yet and besides he's now building his immune system therefore we often skip the lessons because of his sickness.

We will enroll him again once he hit 4 yrs old, perhaps he's most ready and learn pretty fast

Second lesson, third visit in Berries

Yesterday was a bit improvement. Even though he's still crying but not the whole lesson.
And he talked a little bit during homework, the laoshi said.
Well, good job boy !
Mommy believes that you can overcome your separation anxiety soon.
So far he's not scared to go to school yet and even looking forward. He just doesn't want to separate with mommy hehe...

Next week is public holiday, so it's home based learning and mommy will learn together with Richie

First lesson, Second visit to Berry's enrichment class

Yesterday was Richie's second visit to Berry's Enrichment class for mandarin.
Huaaa...he's crying the whole lesson till he took a nap at one of laoshi's arm haha..
I guess he saw me that I left him there therefore he felt so insecure.
Mommy should leave him when he was playing, will do that for next week

At first, mommy was also heart broken seeing him crying for the longest period.
But, other mommies and laoshi told mommy that it's very normal and kid needs to learn to settle down as well as mommy needs to learn to let go.
Therefore mommy decided to go to west mall and picked him up again.

When he saw mommy, his crying stopped and hugged mommy hehehe....
In the car, Richie wanted to eat bread 'cos he's very tired crying haha...and he still can say that he wants to play with laoshi ...haiyahhhh

Well, mommy gave him 10 chances, if it still failed then mommy will withdraw him from the programme and started again next year...
Hopefully soon he can settle down and enjoy the class

First ever going to enrichment class

Yesterday, Richie attended Mandarin Enrichment class trial for the first time at Berries.
So far so good, only 2 incidents when he opened the door by himself and run outside the class looking for mommy hahaha....
It happened one hour after the class began. Total lesson was 1.5 hours

Eventhough it's first time for him to attend the class with strangers, he's pretty enjoying it, he could follow the laoshi instruction and responded well when the laoshi asked him to recite the words

Mommy decided to enroll him in Mandarin class this year instead next year because mommy saw he had some interest in mandarin when he played mommy's iphone.
He can show mommy xiang jiao (banana), ping guo  (apple), ying tao (cherry), e li (avocado), han bao bao (burger), shou shi (sushi), mi fan (rice), bing qi ling (ice cream)

It's a bit too late to enroll N1 'cod the weekend class has been full as well as most of the weekday class, therefore mommy put him in night class Tue 7.30pm

The trial class was so far so good, the laoshi was nice too
Hopefully next week class, he can settle down better and enjoy the whole lesson

Enrichment Class - trial

Last Saturday, mommy brought Richie to Baby Jumper Gym for trial class.
Mommy paid S$32 after discount for the trial. It's 1 hour class.
Since Richie's age was 13++ month, he went to Little Crawler 2 which is from 9 - 14 months old.

They taught mostly flash card and gym but of course there were many subjects
- Vocabulary in Chinese and English (using flash card words and picture and huayi pinyin, the topic was about fruits)
- Music (listening to classic songs, flash card taoge A and G, playing xylophone and 3 glassed filled with water in different level, sing green apple and goodbye song)
- Encyclopedia (the topic was about the star, by using flash card also)
- Gym (crawling, pull up, monkey bars)

The teacher was not so bad, cheerful and quite patient but mommy felt that the timing was too long for kids below 18 months old.
There were 3 kids, after 15 minutes, they lost the focus and preferred to crawl and explore the room instead of sit down and listening to what teacher said.
And when the parents tried to sit them down, they started cranky one by one .....

I guess, 30 minutes would be enough for kids below 18 months old.
15 mins for flash cards or music and 15 minutes for gym and playing.
But well, those kiasu parents wanted all subjects to be covered since they paid quite sum of money. Therefore as a teacher, she needed to force the kids a little bit to cover all the subjects even though the kids already lost focus.

Mommy decided to postpone the enrichment class and perhaps just send Richie to nursery when he's 3 years old. In the meantime, let mommy become his teacher at home when mommy knows his mood and when he can concentrate.
