End of Primary 3 Journey

Today is the parents teachers meeting for Richie. Mama has been anticipating that he's in the middle range and didn't make any trouble in the class.

So when mama met the teachers, both said that Richie was a nice boy, people's person who could mix with everyone even the outcast ones. 

As his academic performance, they said that Richie was doing pretty okay, a little bit playful here and there but he's smart actually and nothing much to worry about.

Then mama asked one million dollar question to his form teacher about punishment that he needed to stay back during the exam to clean up the class.

The teachers were caught in surprise and so did I. They told us that they never did that to any students and in fact they asked the students to leave the class right after the dismissal.

Mama was burning mad, felt cheated and disappointed with him. Mama asked him right after parents teachers meeting what's going on ? Why did you lie ? What was the truth ?

Richie kept changing the story until mama didn't know which one was the truth.

Hopelessly, mama told Richie 

" you can lie to mama and papa as well as your teacher, but you can't lie to God. He knows what has happened."

God's been so good to you, He gave you perfect health, complete family, smart brain and this is what you do to Him, make Him cry."

After dropping him at home, I told him to pray and ask forgiveness for God after that tell the truth to mama and papa, we will regard the last story will be the real truth, if he's still make up the story, it's between him and God. And I asked him to go for confession this coming Sunday.

When I told his papa, papa felt upset and disappointed as well. We were wondering why did he lie ?

Did he do something badly and afraid of punishment or was it the way we handled him that make him fear of us ?

Butterfly Pet

Richie bought two caterpillars from his school for science experiment about life cycle.
We fed the caterpillars with fresh leaves for few days then suddenly one of the caterpillars became cocoon, another caterpillar was still the same.

After about a week, the cocoon became butterfly and the other caterpillar didn't survive and died.
At first, this beautiful orange butterfly couldn't fly, it practiced to fly within the container.
Sometimes it just stayed still and mama was a bit worry because it didn't eat anything and we didn't have any fresh flowers at home too.

However, today Tromson accidentally toppled the container and the butterfly flew near the bay window.

Mama thought that the butterfly still didn't know how to fly, slowly put it in the lid and place it near the window and finally after three days, it had enough strength to fly back to the nature.

What a beautiful experience !

Happy Teacher's Day 2018

On Thursday, Richie will celebrate Teacher's Day, and as I thought that I will prepare the gift the day before, he told me that tomorrow will be the day to give some gifts for teacher if we want to.
So last minute preparation, I came up with something edible instead of just bought from the stores and rushed out to supermarket, buying variety of teas, plastic packagings and diy mini cards.

Most ladies are usually fond of the tea, so that's my inspiration.
Hopefully his teachers love it.

Racial Harmony Day in school

 

Qifa Shine 2018

This was his first public performance which I saluted him. Because it's all his initiative and he's very confident in doing it.
He gave me an invitation letter to watch his performance in his school during the recess time last week. I thought there will be a lot of parents watching them too so I set my schedule to watch him but alas it's only mama the only adult audience, even there's no teachers sit there except one teacher who's the organizer.
Anyway, mama arrived on time just before he and his friend performed.
Then after their name was called, they went into the stage and perform sing and dance.

Mama and papa are very proud of him and he told me that he will join again Qifa Shine 2019.

Parents Teacher Meeting Sem 1 P3

Yesterday we had parents teacher meeting for this semester.
I have been ready to give him a lecture after parents teacher meeting because his result for term 2 is not as good as term 1 and worse than P2.
But in my surprise, I received some compliments from the teacher.

First, his english is actually above average eventhough he got grade 2, but there's improvement from term 1 since most of his friends are in grade 3 for this term.
Maybe his oral and confident in speaking help him a lot.

As for math, he's slightly below average thought but he's still in the normal range.
His teacher said that during practice, he's quite okay but his exam is not as good as during practice so there may be some factors influence it and one of them is words problem. It can pull down the mark very much.

For science, the teacher said that he can be pushed a little bit to achieve grade 1 since he's good in understanding and knowing concept but he's weak in apply it into the questions.
He needs more practice in process skills.

Overall, his teachers are pleased with his result and his behaviour.
He is one of favourite boys in class, everyone is attracted to him hahaha....

As for Chinese, the laoshi is disappointed with him because he's not concentrate during the class.
He loves to talk with his friends in english during chinese class.
As the result, his chinese is just PASS.
Laoshi said that he's clever boy if he focus and concentrate in the class and she asked him to read chinese book 5 minutes each day so that he's familiar with the words and reading.

Well eventhough mama is a bit disappointed with the result, but hearing it from the teachers that it's getting harder than P2, I can accept that.
Hopefully he's willing to focus and work hard for next semester.

Feeding pet animals at Botanical Garden (March School Holiday 2018)

This was the last activity during March School Holiday.
We went to Botanical Garden to feed some animals like swans, fishes, turtles, pigeons and chickens.
It's simple activity but brings lots of happiness in the kids

Archery Shoot Out and Treasure Hunt Games (March School Holiday 2018)

Today we had outdoor activities at West Coast Park, organized by HPB Family Active.
This time round we had Archery Shoot Out and Treasure Hunt Games back to back.

They had instructors who explained how to hold the bow and shoot to the target. The activity was around 45 minutes.
Then they had a break before continue with ice breaking games and treasure hunts.

Mama only managed to take pictures and videos during the archery shoot out and ice breaking games because after that Mama needed to accompany Tromson and Ted at the playset.

Nevertheless, Richie had having fun today and made new friends.

Wednesday Playdate (March School Holiday 2018)

On Wednesday, we had indoor playdate at Pips Playbox at Esplanade.
It's first time we went there. It's suitable for young kids below five and loves art and craft.
For Richie, this place is pretty boring so he created his own game "Hide and Seek" since there were a lot of cupboards to hide

Kite Making Session (March School Holiday 2018)

On Tuesday, we had Kite Making Session under HPB Family Active.
It's free activities for kids and parents.

We went to West Coast Park and the kids enjoyed decorating the kites and learnt to fly the kites
After that we had lunch at McDonalds

Visiting Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum (March school holiday 2018)

As part of our family program "School is Out, Fun is In"
We had outdoor activity series for this one week school holiday.

On Monday, we visited Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum at Chinese garden.

They had lots of different type of turtles, some were kept in the tanks, some were roaming around.
They had different sizes as well.

The kids were having fun, watching the turtles eating, roaming, swimming.
We found unique species like dragon head turtle, pig nose turtle and snake neck turtle.

Unfortunately, their fate is uncertain from end of this month onwards, hopefully they found new home after Chinese Garden make over.

Singapore Kidpreneurs Bazaar 2018

This is the first time Richie joined public event.
He loved to see mama selling products during the event and the opportunity came.
When I saw an email for kidpreneurs bazaar, I asked him if he wants to participate and he said yes.
So I enrolled him.

A week before the event, there's a workshop where the kids learn about how to manage their own business, from marketing strategy, finance and accounting, sales pitches, inventory etc.

Then last Saturday was the D-day.
He had two sales pitches, one was in the noon and another one was in the afternoon.
I helped him to prepare and set up the booth and of course helped him to sell the products too.

He managed to make sales from his own efforts thought.
After all, we still made money eventhough it's not much and we split the profit.

After the event was over, I asked him which part he liked most and he told me he liked to go on stage to do sales pitches as well as counting money and made new friends hahaha....

Well, it was a great learning journey and experience for him that hard earned money was not easy to get. And he loved to participate again next year by having Games stalls
