Pre-primary activity books

 Mommy bought this activity books from Du Yi bookshops.

They are not expensive, less than S$5 each but can last for 3 months I guess hehe...

This books are for Richie to practice at home.

During K1, mommy already makes a habit for him to do a review eventhough only half an hour.

This habit will be carried out when he's in primary school, secondary, JC or university.

It doesn't take long time but regular time will help his study

 

Hopefully he doesn't need any tuition

 

 

I can do addition (15 April 2014)

This morning when mommy cleaned up his desk, mommy found this piece of paper which he wrote the numbers, answered and ticked them all by himself

Learning math ( addition ) - mid term break activity

This week is mid term break for Richie, since it's only a week, every activity goes as usual except no school.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday is Music and reading lesson
Tuesday and Thursday is Mandarin and Math lesson

Today, mommy introduces him to addition using button kits
he can do sum up from 1 + 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 without using button kits
But when he does sum up from 2 + 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 he needs button kits

Number 1,2,3 - 10

Amazingly Richie has known the numbers and counting at least from 1 - 10 without mommy really teaches him.
He just heard from the song in youtube about counting fish and his brain absorbs it very well.
Without mommy asking too, he can say the number correctly when we passed by the HDB block with numbers.
Well done Son !

Learning mathematic in progress

Mommy stops the dot method for awhile. 'Cos he's bored.
It's all contain of red dots and no picture or whatsoever, that's why he's not so much interested in.
Mommy stops at dots 25th.
Perhaps after some reading lesson, he will like mathematic again

Start learning mathematic in Dot methods

After going to enrichment class, mommy knew how glenn doman method works.
So mommy decided to DIY the flash card for mathematic and words. Buying the ready made is expensive.
One set of Mathematic kit is S$380 and one set of reading kit is S$650.

Mommy did some researches in the internet and finally mommy could make own mathematic and reading kit.
Mommy spent S$30 for 50 blank cards (11'' x 11'' )

And starting from today, mommy taught him 5 cards ( dot 1 - 5 ). He seems pretty interested when mommy start to hold the cards. Since mommy only flashes them twice which is almost less than 15 seconds.
He gets very curious and wants more. But according to the rule of thumb, the lesson must be stopped before it gets boring so mommy decides to stop it.

After 15 - 30 minutes, mommy repeats again and he's very interested and seem that he wants it more and more.....
Hopefully, it works to him. At least to simulate his right brain.

Nursery Songs that help learning

Mommy now becomes the expert of nursery songs and almost never follow the new adult pop songs haha...
But mommy enjoys it and feels that nursery songs are another way to teach Richie some basic number, reading, mathematics even body parts and color.
That's why mommy memorizes some of favorite songs and always sing to him during bath time or play time

Learning numbers inside the lift

Mommy just noticed recently that he liked to see the red numbering in the lift.
Luckily our flat was in 17th floor, so it's the opportunity to teach him some numbers since he has interest in that.
Every time we go down or up, he will look up the red numbering and mommy will say it loudly the numbers.

Sometimes, it's fun to learn this way instead of telling him the number in the book
